A Bike Helmet or Ski Helmet Can Save Your Life

March 30, 2009
A short time ago, a famous actress named Natasha Richardson was skiing on a beginners slope when she fell and hit her head. A few hours later she was flown to a hospital for problems that were caused by the fall. Doctors found out she had hit her head hard enough to cause bleeding inside her head and she died the same day. All this could have been prevented if she had worn her helmet.
in 2008 53 people died from skiing and boarding injuries at ski resorts. But only 43% of skiers and boarders wear a helmet. They don't always look cool, but they protect you from letting a little fall turn into a deadly accident.
So the lesson is simple. If you do sports like skiing or boarding or riding your bike - wear your helmet. It could save your life. You might like to listen to the HealthRock song "A Brand New Helmet" on the HealthRock Kid's Edition CD.
