Answer Cells need sugar for energy. We get sugar from foods called carbohydrates or "carbs". The body makes insulin (IN-sue-lynn) to get sugar into cells so cells can use it for fuel. Some people get diabetes because their bodies don't make enough insulin. That is called Type 1 or juvenile diabetes. Some people get diabetes because they eat too many carbohydrates or more than their bodies know how to use and they're not burning off enough sugar because they don't exercise enough. That is called adult onset or Type 2 diabetes. You might enjoy the HealthRock song "Diabetes".

Answer People get colds by getting "cold germs" into their bodies from someone who has a cold. Sometimes we breathe them into our bodies and sometimes we get cold germs on our hands and put them in our mouths. A great way to protect against getting a cold is to wash your hands before eating or before putting your hands in your mouth, and by telling friends to cover their mouth and nose when they sneeze. Getting plenty of sleep and eating healthy also helps. Listen to the HealthRock song "I've Got to Sneeze."

Answer That is an important question. The best way is to eat healthy and exercise. Try not to eat snack foods like chips and sodas and eat more fruits and vegetables. Even one soda a day can cause you to gain 10 pounds in a year.

Answer There are lots of good exercises. An easy one is walking at least 20 minutes every day. But swimming and team sports are all good. Stretching is another exercise that is good for you just before you exercise and right afterward. Any exercise you do regularly will work.
